The Chief of Police shall not be removed, suspended, demoted or discharged except for cause upon written charges and after an opportunity to be heard in his own defense at a public or private hearing. Pending the hearing of such charges, the City Manager may suspend the Chief of Police so accused, but such suspension shall not be valid for more than thirty days. The order or decision of the Civil Service Commission after a public hearing shall be final. (Amended June 2, 1992)
